Punch iCNG

Tata Punch is the highest-selling SUV in the micro-SUV segment. In December 2022, Punch was the 3rd highest-selling SUV in India. The well-known Indian brand Tata has now launched a new variant of its micro-SUV which is the Punch iCNG, finally, CNG lovers will be able to buy the Punch. The iCNG version of Punch has some little cosmetic changes to be able to look apart from the other variants of the SUV, but its overall exterior design is the same as the original Punch.

Twin-cylinder Technology

Tata has set up the CNG kit in the Punch in a way that it still is very practical and has a usable boot space. Instead of a big CNG cylinder, Tata has used twin-cylinder technology in the Punch, two small CNG cylinders are placed below the boot floor, which offers a combined capacity of 60 liters, like any other CNG car. Because of using the twin-cylinder technology the boot space is not compromised and it still has ample usable space.

Interior and Features of Punch iCNG

The interior of the Punch iCNG is the same as the other variants but it gets some minor tweaks like a CNG level readout in the instrument cluster and a button to switch between petrol and CNG like any other CNG car. Talking about the features of Punch iCNG, Tata has surprised its customers by adding features like an electric sunroof and up to 6 airbags for safety. These features are not yet available in the standard models of Punch. This indicates that Tata could soon update the other variants of the Punch. The other features you get in the Punch iCNG are – a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, leatherette upholstery, a leak detection system, and a fire protection device.

Engine, Rivals, and Delivery

The iCNG variant of the Punch uses the same 1.2-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine that you get in the Petrol variant of the Punch, this engine produces 76 bhp of power and 97 Nm of torque. The Punch iCNG has a single ECU unit like other CNG cars of Tata, with the help of this you can start the engine directly in the CNG mode. The iCNG only comes with a 5-speed manual transmission option. Talking about its rival, the Punch iCNG has rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG. The sales of Punch iCNG will start in India in the upcoming months.
