Toyota Innova Hycross

Innova Hycross

Toyota has launched the Innova Hycross in India in only petrol and hybrid powertrain options with impressive mileage figures, the simple petrol variant gives a mileage of 16.13kmpl and the hybrid variant gives an amazing mileage of 21.1kmpl. The diesel powertrain option of Hycross is not expected to launch at any time. Toyota Innova Hycross Variants and Engine Specs

Toyota Innova Hycross is available in 5 petrol variants

  1. G-SLF (Base Variant)
  2. GX
  3. Vx Hybrid
  4. ZX Hybrid
  5. ZX (O) Hybrid

All these variants come with only an automatic transmission option, the Innova Hycross’ lack of a manual transmission is the most unexpected aspect of its engine specifications. All these variants carry the same 2.0-liter normal petrol engine under the hood and when it comes to engine comparison, the turbo petrol engines of Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N are unbeatable even by the hybrid variant of Innova Hycross. However, no vehicle in this price range comes close to the Innova Hycross Hybrid’s 21.1 kmpl mileage rating. Even the Innova Hycross normal petrol variant achieves a respectable mileage of 16.13 kmpl.

The power and torque output of the Hycross normal petrol and hybrid petrol engines are comparable on paper. However, the hybrid engine’s torque delivery is so good that it provides significantly superior low-end torque for better driving. In fact, the Innova Hycross hybrid petrol doesn’t even need to start the engine as it can run solely on the electric motor while traveling at city speeds.

The G-SLF (Base Variant) of Innova Hycross

The G-SLF is the base variant of Innova Hycross, its price is Rs. 18.30 lakh (EX-showroom) for the 7-seater layout with captain seats in the 2nd row. The 8-seater bench configuration costs Rs. 5,000 extra. The G-SLF variant carries a single option 2.0-liter normal petrol engine under the hood that is mated to a single option CVT automatic transmission. This variant gets a good bundle of features like – rear disc brakes, power mirrors, electronic parking brake, 16-inch steel wheels with covers, Remote central locking, Rear AC vents, Option of captain seats in 2nd row with utility tray, Front armrest, Split folding 2nd and 3rd-row seatbacks, Hill start assist ESC, Push-button start/stop, All power windows, Tilt and telescopic steering, All adjustable headrests, Rear washer wiper, ISOFIX mounts, and Day/night inside mirror.

Despite being a base variant, the G-SLF still offers decent features but it skips some main features, which are present in the higher variants like – Music system or touchscreen infotainment screen, Steering-mounted controls, Height-adjustable driver seat, Rear defogger, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Auto climate control, Larger 17-inch wheels, 2nd-row armrest with bench seat, and Keyless entry.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The GX Variant of Innova Hycross

The GX variant of Innova Hycross costs Rs. 19.15 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the 7-seater layout with captain seats in the 2nd row. The 8-seater bench configuration costs Rs. 5,000 extra just like the G-SLF variant. The GX variant also carries the same 2.0-liter normal petrol engine under the hood that is mated to a single option CVT automatic transmission.

The G-SLF variant VS the GX variant

The GX variant costs around Rs. 85,000 more than the G-SLF variant. Both variants carry the same engine and transmission, the only difference is in the feature list. The G-SLF (Base variant) has a good number of features but lacks some main features like a touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking camera, height-adjustable driver seat, and steering-mounted controls. Because of this, we recommend you buy the GX variant instead of the G-SLF variant. The GX variant will also give you a better ownership experience and much better value for money.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The VX Hybrid Variant of Innova Hycross

The VX is the lowest Hybrid variant of Innova Hycross. In this variant, you get the same 2.0-liter normal petrol engine with a single automatic transmission option and you also get hybrid technology which increases the power and mileage of the vehicle. The VX Hybrid variant costs Rs. 24.01 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the 7-seater layout with captain seats in the 2nd row. The 8-seater bench configuration costs Rs. 5,000 extra just like other variants.

The VX Hybrid variant has all the features you get in the GX variant, plus it has additional features like – a 360-degree camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, Auto climate control, Paddle shifters, Cruise control, Rear window curtains, Auto-dimming inside mirror, Tyre pressure monitoring, Rear defogger, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, Soft-touch dashboard, Ambient lighting, and Puddle lamps. This variant has all the normally required features but misses some cool features like – Sunroof, powered tailgate, power adjustable driver seat, and a larger touchscreen infotainment system.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The GX variant VS the VX Hybrid variant

The GX variant offers many features and great value for money but if you are a traveler or a frequent car user then you should go for the VX Hybrid variant as it provides higher mileage and a better driving experience. The VX Hybrid costs around Rs. 4.86 lakh more than the GX variant because of the Hybrid technology and some additional features like auto AC, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring system, and paddle shifters. This price gap is only justified if you have a very high car running rate.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The ZX Hybrid Variant of Innova Hycross

Just like the lower variant, the ZX Hybrid variant of Innova Hycross also gets a 2.0-liter normal petrol engine under the hood with automatic transmission and Hybrid technology. The cost of the ZX Hybrid variant is Rs. 28.33 lakh (Ex-showroom) and it only comes in a 7-seater configuration with captain seats in the 2nd row and a bench in the 3rd.

The ZX variant has all the features available in the VX Hybrid variant, plus it has additional features like – Leather upholstery, Ventilated seats, an Air purifier, a Panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, a Larger touchscreen infotainment system, JBL sound system with subwoofer, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 2x front side thorax and 2x curtain airbags, 2-zone auto AC, Powered driver seat with memory and welcome function, Power reclining captain seats in 2nd row, and Powered tailgate. But it misses the ADAS features which are available in the top variant.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The VX Hybrid variant VS the ZX Hybrid variant

The ZX Hybrid variant costs around Rs. 4.32 lakh more than the VX Hybrid variant. This price difference is only because of the luxury features that the ZX Hybrid variant offers. If you want a luxury ownership experience and cool features like a panoramic sunroof, better sound system, dual-zone automatic AC, and leather upholstery then we recommend you to go for the ZX Hybrid variant but if you want to just have the normal usage features, and save yourself some money then you should consider going for the lower VX Hybrid variant.

Toyota Innova HycrossThe ZX (O) Hybrid (top variant) of Innova Hycross

The ZX (O) Hybrid is the top variant of Innova Hycross. It has the same 2.0-liter normal petrol engine with an automatic transmission and Hybrid technology. The price of this variant is Rs. 28.97 lakh (Ex-showroom) and it only comes in a 7-seater configuration with captain seats in the 2nd row and a bench in the 3rd row.

The ZX (O) Hybrid variant has all the features available in the ZX Hybrid variant, plus it has an additional ADAS bundle which includes Adaptive cruise control, Auto high beam, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, crash safety warning, blind spot monitoring.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The ZX Hybrid variant VS the ZX (O) Hybrid variant

The price difference between the ZX Hybrid and ZX (O) hybrid variants is of around Rs. 64,000. This price jump makes sense because of the additional ADAS bundle present in the higher variant. The ADAS bundle will give you better driving comfort and ownership experience for a fair amount of premium. We recommend you to go for the ZX (O) Hybrid variant if you are planning to buy the ZX hybrid Variant.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Best Toyota Innova Hycross Variant (Our Opinion)

The main difference in Toyota Innova Hycross variants is that they come in two different powertrain options – a 2.0-liter normal petrol-automatic powertrain and a 2.0-liter Hybrid petrol-automatic powertrain. The 2.0-liter normal petrol-automatic option is the right choice for you if you are someone who wants the car for business purposes and normal use only. The GX variant is the best and recommended normal petrol-automatic variant between the G-SLF and GX variant because the price difference between the two is very low and the GX variant has more must-have features and gives better value for money than the G-SLF variant.

Toyota Innova Hycross

If you are someone who travels a lot by car and makes long trips then the Hybrid petrol-automatic option will be the right choice for you because it gives higher mileage and a better driving experience. The VX hybrid variant is a good choice and our top recommendation if you have a high car running. The VX Hybrid variant has many must-have features, as well as several good-to-have features. Please Note – To make up for the price difference between the GX and VX hybrids variant, you will need to go more than 2.0 lakh km, so keep that in mind. If you are a fan of Luxury features and want to go for a higher variant then we recommend you go for the ZX (O) hybrid variant instead of the ZX hybrid variant for a better ownership experience. The price difference between the two is very low and the ZX (O) variant carries the ADAS bundle which will give you a whole new driving experience. Therefore, the ZX (O), provides slightly better value for money than the ZX trim.
