Volkswagen Virtus & Skoda Slavia have taken the Indian market by storm with their latest safety features making them the safest cars in India, according to the latest crash test results. Both cars have managed to overtake the Taigun and the Kushaq to be the top-performing cars in safety by a slight margin.  The Volkswagen Virtus & Skoda Slavia have been tested as per updated Global NCAP safety protocols, and have achieved a full 5-star safety rating for adult and child safety. These cars have set a new benchmark for safety and are deemed the safest cars for Indian roads.

Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus received 29.71 points out of a possible 34 points for adult occupant protection. In the same test, the Kushaq and Taigun scored 29.64 points. The sedans provide good protection to the head, neck, driver’s thighs, and co-passengers legs in the front crash test and both front passengers’ chest regions are adequately protected. The head, chest, and abdominal areas were adequately protected during the side barrier impact test, while the pelvis area showed good protection. For this test, a barrier hit the vehicle from the side at 50 kph while the car was still. The sedans performed well in the side pole impact test for the head, neck, and pelvis region but inadequately for the chest. The base variations of the sedans, like all the other cars, were utilized for the frontal and side crash tests, while the top-end variants were tested for the side pole impact. The bodyshell integrity and footwell were rated stable, and the cars can bear higher loads than the crash test speed of 64kmph.

Volkswagen Virtus & Skoda Slavia Child Safety – 

The Slavia and Virtus received 42 out of 49 points for kid occupant protection. Three-year-old and 18-month-old children’s dummies were sat in rearward-facing ISOFIX seats, which provided comprehensive frontal and side impact protection. The sedans and their SUV siblings are the only vehicles with five stars safety rating for kid occupant protection.

The safety features of the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia include Dual front airbags, electronic stability control, multi-collision braking, electronic differential locking system, traction control, three-point seatbelts for all five seats, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a tire pressure monitoring system are all standard features. The higher-end models have up to six airbags, a rear parking camera, and hill hold control. Both cars have been built with safety in mind and are equipped with an ultra-high-strength steel frame, which provides a strong foundation for the car’s safety. The Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia have also been designed to withstand the impact of a collision and minimize the force of impact on the passengers. The Volkswagen Virtus is priced between Rs 11.48 lakh – Rs 18.57 lakh (Ex-showroom), while the Slavia is priced between Rs 11.39 lakh – Rs 18.45 lakh (Ex-showroom).

Updated Global NCAP Crash Tests –

The revised global NCAP standards now include frontal collision, side barrier and pole impact, and pedestrian safety tests as standard, as well as electronic stability control. Passing these criteria should assist a vehicle in obtaining a full five-star safety rating.
