CNG cars demand is very high in India. Noticing this almost every car manufacturing company in the country is trying to offer factory-fitted CNG cars. Currently, Maruti Suzuki is the highest CNG cars selling company in India followed by Tata Motors and Hyundai. Toyota India is also trying to enter the CNG car market to increase their sales. A few months ago, Toyota launched the CNG version of the Glanza hatchback and now the CNG version of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV has been launched by the company.
Toyota offers the Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG in two variants (S and G). For adding the CNG kit, Toyota India is charging a premium of Rs. 95,000. This brings the price of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG S variant to Rs. 13.23 lakh (Ex-showroom) and the higher G trim variant costs Rs. 15.29 lakh (Ex-showroom). The Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG costs around Rs. 40,000 more than the Maruti Suzuki Vitara CNG. The top G variant of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG has features like -LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights, 6 airbags, reverse parking camera, ambient lighting, Arkamys sound system, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Both the variants (S and G) of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG carry the same 1.5-liter normal petrol engine under the hood. This engine, when on CNG, produces 88PS of power at 5500rpm and 121.5Nm of torque at 4200rpm. On petrol, this engine produces slightly more power of 103Ps at 6000rpm and more torque of 136Nm at 4400rpm. The Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG only comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, Toyota doesn’t offer an automatic CNG variant of this SUV. The Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG claims a mileage of 26.6kmpl.
