Toyota Innova Electric

Toyota has gone all-out with hybrid technology. Toyota is also investing significant amounts of its R&D resources in pure EVs and PHEVs. Recently, Toyota Innova Hycross was launched as Innova Kejing Zenix in Indonesia.

Toyota debuted a concept prototype of the all-electric Innova at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in Jakarta earlier this year.

It got a lot of attention globally, mainly in South Asia and India because of its high popularity in these countries.

Innova Crysta Electric Spied

Toyota’s concept prototype Innova Crysta Electric is a right example of how Toyota is now electrifying its ICE vehicles.

This prototype has just been observed being tested on roads. Toyota might use the older platforms to make pure EVs.

The Kijang Innova Electric will not be sold and has been developed as a concept for the sole purpose of engineering development, according to Anton Jimmi Suwandy, the marketing director for Toyota Astra Motor in Indonesia.

Suwandy also claimed that “research and development of future EVs being prepared for the region are using the Innova EV idea.”

Henry Tanoto, Vice President Director of Toyota Astra Motor Indonesia, stated that the Innova EV concept is “merely a study.” The idea is credited with increasing EV popularity in the neighborhood.

The IMV2 ladder-on-frame architecture, which strengthens the outgoing Innova Crysta, is made to handle both gasoline and diesel engines.

The integration of battery packs and motors is a substantial packaging challenge for this technology. owing to an antiquated structure that has little space for batteries.

Toyota may invest in electrifying its current lineup of ladder-frame, traditional cars, including MPVs, SUVs, pickup trucks, and more. There are some segments, like pickup trucks, where electrification and the durability of ladder-frame chassis are both crucial.

What To Expect

Future solid performers from the Japanese company ‘Toyota’, such as SUVs and pickup trucks, may be electrified or even hybridized if what Toyota is trying with the Innova Crysta electric concept prototype works out.

Even GM, Ford, and Rivian are selling electric vehicles with ladder-frame chassis in North American markets.

Toyota is not likely to introduce an electric version of its MPV, despite the fact that an Innova Crysta concept prototype has been seen in road testing.

With a contemporary monocoque chassis, an FWD layout, and an optional hybrid powertrain, the Innova Hycross is already on the market.
