we have the Baleno hatchback with the most sales at 16,932 units in Dec 2022. This hatchback shows a 17.11 percent YoY growth. In Dec 2021 a total of 14,458 units of Baleno were sold. MoM sales of Baleno are down by 19.16 percent, as in Nov 2022 a total of 20,945 units of Baleno were sold. Market share increased to 19.78 percent from 19.26 percent.
we have the Maruti Swift with sales of 12,061 units in Dec 2022. It shows a YoY decline of 22.99 percent. In Dec 2021 a total of 15,661 units of Swift were sold. Swift MoM sales also fell 20.41 percent as in Nov 2022 a total of 15,153 units of Swift were sold.
we have Maruti WagonR with a total sale of 10,181 units in Dec 2022. Just like the Swift, WagonR YoY and MoM sales also fell. YoY of WagonR sales is down 40.39 percent and the MoM sales bar fell 30.84 percent.
we have the Maruti Suzuki Alto with a total sale of 8,648 units in Dec 2022. Alto sales are down 22.58 percent YoY. In Dec 2021 a total of 11,170 units of Alto were sold. MoM sales of Alto are also down 44.79 percent, as of Nov 2022 a total of 15,663 units of Alto were sold. All this took market share down to 10.10 percent in the past month from 14.41 percent held in Nov 2022.
we have the Hyundai i10 NIOS breaking Maruti’s chain with sales of 8,340 units in Dec 2022. This hatchback shows a YoY growth of 35.59 percent. In Dec 2021 a total of 6,151 units of i10 NIOS were sold. MoM sales also increased by 4.76 percent as the company sold 7,961 units in Nov 2022.
we have the Tata Tiago with sales of 6,052 units in Dec 2022. There is a 29.45 percent YoY growth in sales of Tiago. In Dec 2021 a total of 4,675 units of Tiago were sold. MoM sales improved by 18.74 percent over 5,097 units sold in Nov 2022.
Maruti Suzuki again enters the list with Ignis. A total of 5,241 units of Ignis were sold in Dec 2022. Ignis shows a YoY growth of 63.32 percent. In Dec 2021 a total of 3,209 units of Ignis were sold. MoM sales improved by 3.03 percent from 5,087 units sold in Nov 2022.
we have the Hyundai i20 with sales of 4,697 units in Dec 2022. I20 YoY sales growth is 49.11 percent. In Dec 2021 a total of 3,150 units of i20 were sold. MoM sales of i20 are down by 35.09 percent as of Nov 2022 a total of 7,236 units of i20 were sold.
we have the Toyota Glanza with sales of 4,465 units in Dec 2022. Glanza saw a YoY sales growth of 69.51 percent. In Dec 2021 a total of 2,634 units of Glanza were sold and the Nov 2022 sales number is 4,393 units.
we have the Tata Altroz with sales of 4,055 units in Dec 2022. Altroz saw a YoY and MoM decline in sales by 19.05 percent and 20.24 percent respectively.
Renault Kwid sales increased 73.01 percent YoY. 1,827 units of Kwid were sold in December 2022 and 1,056 units were sold in Dec 2021. Additionally, MoM sales increased by 22.04 % over the 1,497 units sold in November 2022. On a YoY and MoM basis, sales for the Maruti S-Presso and Celerio decreased to 1,117 units and 1,090 units, respectively, in December 2022. With 80 units sold in November 2022 and 913 units sold in December 2022, the Citroen C3 joined the list and experienced a 13.56 percent MoM gain. Honda Jazz was last on the list, selling just 3 units in December 2022 compared to 486 units in December 2021. Additionally, MoM sales declined by 85% over 20 units sold in November 2022.
