The 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to get a touch of EV with Tiago EV, the electric hatchback from Tata, being announced as an official partner of the tournament. IPL is an annual festival of cricket that attracts millions of fans from around the world, and this partnership with Tata Motors is sure to increase awareness and adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
Tata Tiago EV will be displayed at all the 12 stadiums hosting the IPL matches. Tata Motors has been associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India for the sixth year in a row. (BCCI). Tata started its IPL promotion in 2018 and took over as the title sponsor in 2022. The Nexon was displayed for the first time just outside the boundary line. The Harrier, Altroz, and Safari all came after it in the following years: 2019, 2020, and 2021. The Safari Red Dark served as the official partner of the recently completed Women’s Premier League (WPL) inaugural season and for the Tata WPL 2023, Sophie Devine of Royal Challengers Bangalore earned the title of Safari Super Striker.
The automaker has also held thrilling contests and other activities for spectators, giving them the opportunity to either win one of its sponsor vehicles or, in some cases, score an auction deal. The automaker will also give the “Tiago EV Electric Striker” award and a cash reward of Rs. 1 lakh to the player with the highest strike rate of each match in addition to its promotional efforts for EVs. Additionally, the 2023 season’s champion will receive a free Tiago EV, and every time the ball strikes the Tiago EV displayed at the venue during the matches, Tata will plant a sapling and donate Rs 5 lakh toward improving the biodiversity of coffee plantations in Karnataka. The automaker will also provide tickets to specific games as a prize for early EV adopters. Owners of Tata EVs will also be able to participate in some engagement events on-site, and a selected few will even have the opportunity to award some cricketers.
