The mid-size SUV segment is very popular in India but we don’t get many options to choose from in this segment. Currently, Hyundai Creta is ruling this segment with more than 48000 units sold and the second place is taken by the Kia Seltos.
We don’t have any other mid-size SUV at this price point to compete with these 2 vehicles but soon Tata motors will launch a mid-size SUV in suv segment to rival the Creta and Seltos.
This upcoming mid-size SUV of Tata is known as Blackbird and it will be a 4.3-meter-long SUV. Tata already sells 4-meter and 4.6-meter-long SUVs in India; these SUVs are Nexon and Harrier. After the launch of the Tata Blackbird. Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos will have tough competitors.
The name of the upcoming Tata mid-size SUV is not revealed by the company yet but according to a report, Tata will name this SUV ‘Blackbird’. Tata Blackbird will be based on the existing Tata Nexon.
According to a report the Tata Blackbird could be built on the X1 platform of the company on which the best-selling Nexon is built. The Blackbird will be bigger than the Nexon and it will have more cabin and boot space.
The design of the Blackbird will be modern and appealing; the front and back of the car will have a new look. The Tata Blackbird will soon launch in India. The tata blackbird price is still unknown.
The Tata Blackbird could be powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine which is bigger and has more power than the Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol Revotron engine. The Blackbird 1.5-liter petrol engine will produce 160 hp of power and it will be offered both the options of manual and automatic transmission.
Tata motors have not yet confirmed the price of Blackbird but the expected price of this car is between Rs. 11 to 12 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the base model.
Tata Blackbird will give tough competition to the kia seltos, and Hyundai Creta. Currently, Creta is dominating its segment. Hyundai offers Creta with 3 engine options.
These are a 1.5-liter MPI petrol engine that produces 113bhp and 143.8 Nm of torque, a 1.5-liter U2 CRDi diesel engine that produces 113bhp and 143.8 Nm of torque, and a 1.4-liter kappa turbo GDi petrol engine that produces 130bhp of power.
Creta is available with both the options of manual and automatic transmission.
