It has been many years since Nissan entered the Indian car market. Nissan has launched multiple cars in multiple segments like the Micra hatchback, Sunny sedan, Evalia MPV, Kicks SUV, Terrano SUV, etc, etc in the country but still, the company is barely making any sales. It’s the Nissan Magnite that has kept the company alive in India. The Magnite appears to have stopped Nissan from closing its business in India for the time being. Now, Nissan has announced the launch of a new car in India, following the momentum established by Magnite. Today, we will tell you all about Nissan’s upcoming 7-seater MPV that will be based on the Renault Triber. Read the full article below to not miss any detail.

Nissan Upcoming 7-seater MPV

Nissan has announced that they will soon launch a new 7-seater MPV in India and it will be based on Renault Triber. We have already seen the Renault-Nissan collaboration and sharing of platforms and engines in India in (Duster and Terrano) and (Sunny and Scala). The recently launched Renault Kiger is also the spinoff of the Nissan Magnite which is based on the same platform as the Renault Triber.

Nissan will now launch their version of the Triber. The Triber is an entry-level sub 4m 7-seater MPV without jump seats. It has a short bonnet that houses a 1.0-liter engine. It has upright A-pillars and flat rear profiles like MPVs because of which the 2nd and 3rd row of Triber is surprisingly spacious. This formula was first introduced by Datsun in India with Go+. Nissan’s version of Triber will launch by the end of 2023. Nissan currently offers only two cars in India – Magnite and Kicks. In April 2023 Nissan will discontinue the Kicks because of very low sales and the Magnite will be the sole vehicle in the Nissan India portfolio until the 7-seater MPV launches.

Nissan’s upcoming 7-seater MPV will have similar dimensions as the Triber, but the design will be completely different. A lot of design inspiration will be drawn from the Magnite. The Magnite has some pretty design elements like sleek headlights and a large open-mouth grille.

Features, Engine, Price

The feature list of Nissan’s upcoming 7-seater MPV is not revealed yet but we expect that it will have features like – keyless entry, push-button start, 2nd-row reclining seats, 2nd and 3rd row roof-mounted AC vents, removable 3rd row, LED projector headlights, and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED DRLs, LED fog lights, TPMS, 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, Alloy wheels, and some other modern features.

The engine of Nissan’s version of Triber will be the same as that of Triber which is a 1.0 liter NA 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces 71 bhp of power and 96 Nm of torque. It will be nice if Nissan would offer an option of a turbo petrol engine, making 99 bhp of power and 160 Nm of torque. The price is not confirmed by Nissan yet but considering the price of Triber, it should be between Rs. 6.34 lakh – Rs. 8.98 lakh (Ex-showroom). The production of Nissan’s version of Triber might take place by the end of 2023.
