A photo of the cheaper version of Mahindra Thar has been leaked which confirms the launch of a new variant of Thar.
The photo of the new variant of Mahindra Thar revealed that there will be no 4-wheel drive lever given in the new variant of Thar because the upcoming variant of Thar will have a 2-wheel drive system. The 2-wheel drive version of Thar has already started arriving at the company’s dealership yards, and it is going to hit the Indian car market soon.
The new variant of Thar will not have a 4-wheel drive system but a rear-wheel drive only. Talking about the engine of the new affordable Thar, will have a 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 116 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. This engine is also found in the Mahindra XUV300. This engine is less powerful than the engine we get in the 4-wheel drive variant of the Thar.
The new 2-wheel drive variant of the Thar will be the entry-level variant of this SUV and because of a less powerful engine and the absence of a 4-wheel drive system, the price of this variant will be very less compared to the current variants. This is good for customers who want an affordable Thar.
The overall design of the 2WD Thar is similar to the 4WD Thar but you will not find the 4X4 badging on the 2WD Thar. Talking about the features of 2WD Thar, almost all the features you get in 4WD Thar are available in the 2WD Thar plus Mahindra has added a start/stop button and a lock/unlock button to the center console of the new 2WD Thar. The booking date and price of 2WD Thar is not revealed yet.
