The Maruti Suzuki Indian has finally launched the much-awaited Jimny which was first showcased at Auto Expo 2023. Maruti Jimny is a new affordable off-roader of carmaker in India after a long time. Jimny has already received thousands of bookings which confirms that the demand for off-road SUVs is very high in the country. Currently, the Mahindra Thar is dominating the off-road segment but now the situation is about to change.
The price of Maruti Jimny starts at Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom) and you can book the SUV for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that the deliveries of the Jimny will start from the date of launch.
The Maruti Jimny is offered in only a five-door configuration in India and it comes in two variants: Alpha and Zeta which are powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine that generates a decent 105 PS of power and 134 Nm of torque. The engine gets two transmission options – a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Maruti Claims that the Jimny is capable of giving a mileage of up to 16.94 kmpl. Since it comes with 4X4 as standard, a low-range transmission, and a brake-limited slip differential, the Jimny is a real off-road vehicle. It is supported by a ladder frame chassis, which contributes to its versatility in terms of terrain.
Being an off-roader the Maruti Jimny is focused on ruggedness and power instead of features. But the Jimny does not disappoint and comes with a decent amount of goodies like LED headlamps with a washer, a 9-inch touchscreen system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start-stop, cruise control, and automatic AC. Jimny’s safety features include six airbags, ESP, hill start assist, hill descent control, and a rear camera.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny’s price starts at Rs. 12.74 lakhs (Ex-showroom) and its top Alpha dual-tone model costs Rs. 15.05 lakh (Ex-showroom). Jimny’s prime rival is the Mahindra Thar which is known as the king of the off-road segment in India. The Mahindra Thar is offered with petrol and diesel engines and it also gets the choice of a convertible soft top roof. The second rival of the Maruti Jimny is the Force Gurkha, which is an easy target. The Force Gurkha only gets a diesel-manual combination.
