After seeing the market growth of CNG cars in India Tata Motors has also started launching CNG versions of its cars in the country. Recently Tata launched its hatchback car Tiago NRG in CNG avatar and before that Tata motors already offers two more of its cars with CNG kit. These two cars are Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor. Now Tata motors are planning to launch a CNG version of its popular car i.e. Tata Punch. The CNG version of this mini-SUV of Tata will compete with the high-selling Maruti Suzuki Wagon R CNG. Let’s have a look at the specifications of these two cars.
The Maruti Suzuki’s Wagon R is a very high-selling CNG car in the country. Most people chose this car because of its mileage and cabin space. Wagon R CNG produces 56 bhp of power and 82 Nm of torque. The LXI variant of this car also gets the option of a CNG kit. Wagon R gets 2 engine options – a 1.0-liter petrol and a 1.2-liter petrol.
This car comes with many features like steering-mounted controls, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and power windows. Wagon R CNG gives a mileage of 34.05 km and the price of this vehicle starts at Rs. 6.81 lakh (Ex-showroom).
The Tata Punch CNG will get the same engine we see in Tata Tiago and Tigor. This is a 1.2-liter petrol engine and when fueled with CNG this engine produces 73 PS of power at 6000 rpm and 95 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. The mileage this engine returns on CNG mode is 26.49 km/kg. Tata motors could showcase the Punch CNG and EV versions at the 2023 Auto Expo.
The CNG cars of Tata cost Rs. 90,000 more than the petrol variant so seeing this we can say that the Tata Punch CNG will also cost approx Rs. 90,000 more than the non-CNG variant. The current Tata Punch price starts at Rs. 6 lakh and goes up to Rs. 9.54 lakh. The Tata Punch CNG price could start at Rs. 7.65 lakh and can go up to Rs 9.27 lakh.
