Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturing company in India, knows exactly what to offer and not offer in the Indian car market. Over the past years not even a single car launch of Maruti in India failed. This shows that Maruti Suzuki focuses on the exact need of the market. Now noticing the high SUV demand in the Indian car market, Maruti Suzuki India is going to launch a new SUV called the Maruti Fronx. Previously, this SUV was expected to be called BalenoCross because it is based on the Baleno Hatchback. Maruti has already started taking bookings of the Fronx and you can book the vehicle by going to the nearest dealership or by visiting the company’s website for a small token amount of Rs. 11,000. According to some official reports, Maruti is receiving over 250 bookings of Fronx every day.
The Maruti Fronx SUV is based on the Baleno Hatchback but it has its own exterior design. The Fronx has a large grille that carries a chrome line in the middle that houses the Suzuki logo, it gets slim LED DRLs on the top, and below them are the ice cube-like headlights, the front bumper is not overly done and it has silver finished chin. On the side, Fronx gets body cladding which enhances its SUV characteristics, new alloy wheels, body-color ORVs, and door handles. The rear profile is very attractive because of the taillights which are connected by a long light bar, sporty rear bumper, and slightly raked rear windshield. On top, the Fronx gets roof rails which are non-functional but adds points to the design of the SUV.
The interior of the Fronx is the same as the Baleno’s interior, it has the same dashboard, center console, and steering wheel. The feature list of the Fronx includes a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heads-up display, cruise control, automatic AC, a wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree camera. Safety features are – up to 6 airbags, an electronic stability program, hill hold assist, ISOFIX anchors, and ABS with EBD.
The Fronx SUV gets two engine options: a 1.0-liter turbo petrol booster jet engine and a 1.2-liter Dualjet petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech. The 1.0-liter engine produces 100PS of power and 148Nm of torque and it comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.2-liter engine produces 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque and it comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
The price of the Fronx is yet to be announced by the company. We expect that it will be priced between Rs. 8 – 10 lakh (Ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki is offering the Fronx in 5 trims – Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. The launch date of Fronx is not confirmed yet, but it is said to be launching in March 2023.
