Maruti Suzuki’s entry-level car, Alto K10, is a subcompact hatchback that is famous for its affordability and high mileage. Alto K10 was first launched in 2010 and it is the younger sibling of the recently discontinued Maruti Suzuki Alto 800.
Global NCAP crash test result of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 just got announced and the car has scored a 2-star safety rating in the adult occupant test and 0-star in the child occupant safety test. To talk about the points, Alto K10 scored only 21.67 points out of 34 in the adult occupant test and only 3.52 points out of 49 in the child occupant safety test. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 was crash tested by the Global NCAP alongside some other cars like the Wagon R, Volkswagen, and the Skoda Slavia. The K10 model which was used in the test was the top model of the car which comes with front airbags, a seat belt pre-tensioner, and a seatbelt load limiter. In the test result, the body shell of the hatchback was rated as stable.
The Global NCAP crash test was done using a three-year-old dummy and an 18-month-old child. The 3-year-old dummy was seated facing forward with an adult seatbelt on (Note: Alto K10 does not come with 3-pointer seatbelts for all 5 passengers) and during the crash, its head received great damage due to excessive forward movement. On the other hand, the 18-month-old dummy was seated on a rear-facing child seat with an adult seatbelt, (Note: Alto K10 does not get ISOFIX child seat mounts) it did not get any head damage but the chest area was not in the right condition.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 carries a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine under the hood that produces 67 horsepower and 90Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT (automatic transmission), making control an easy and smooth experience no matter the terrain. The car has an impressive fuel economy of up to 30km/kg on CNG.
 The interior of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is great considering the price. The car has a spacious cabin with ample headroom and legroom for up to five passengers, making it an ideal car for small families. Some of the notable features of the interior include a manual air conditioner, power windows, a 2-DIN audio system, and rear-seat headrests. The Alto K10 is equipped with safety features including an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), driver-side airbag, an engine immobilizer, and seat belt reminders.
The Alto K10 price starts at Rs. 3.99 lakh (Ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs. 5.96 lakh (Ex-showroom). Alto K10’s affordability makes it one of the highest-selling cars in India.
