The new spy shots of the upcoming 5-Door Thar revealed that it will carry the same alloy wheels as the 3-Door variant and an extra set of doors. The most major detail the latest spy shots revealed is that the rear door handles of the 5-Door Thar will be placed on the C-pillar like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the LED taillights will have Thar branding in the middle.
The 5-Door Thar will get the same petrol and diesel engine options as the 3-Door variant but Mahindra will tune up the engines because of the increase in the size of the SUV. The 5-Door variant will also get the option of 2WD just like the 3-Door variant and the SUV will be offered with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. The 3-Door Thar gets a 2-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 150PS of power and a diesel unit that produces 130PS of power.
The 5-Door Thar is expected to be launched by the end of this year or in 2024. The price of the 5-Door variant will be slightly more than the 3-Door variant which is marked at Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 16.49 (Ex-showroom). Currently, the Thar is the king of its segment but competitors like Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha are rising up fast.
