The electric market is growing rapidly and in the near future, more than 80% of the cars on roads will be powered by electricity. The BMW iX is an electric SUV from a popular German luxury car brand called BMW. The iX was launched in India on 13 December 2021 and it is available in a single (xDrive40) variant. The design of the iX is very modern and BMW’ish. It has a large BMW signature vertical kidney grille on the front with eye-like highlights which has integrated eyebrows like LED DRLs and a sporty front bumper. The side profile has 21-inch diamond cut air performance alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, frameless doors, and blue highlights to show that it’s an electric SUV. The rear profile is clean and has slim futuristic taillights and the BMW logo in the middle.
The interior of the iX looks and feels very luxurious because of the modern design and use of soft-touch materials on all parts of the cabin. The dashboard design is simple and it has slim AC vents in the middle. There are not many buttons in the interior as all the controls are on the infotainment screen, except some main buttons present on the floating center console. The feature list of iX includes a 12.3-inch curved driver’s display along with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has BMW’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment software, head-up display, seat-integrated speakers, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and crystal finish gear-selector and dials which looks really premium. The iX also has driver assistance features like lane departure warning, blind spot detection, lane change warning with the active return, and front collision warning.
The BMW iX carries a dual motor setup which takes power from a 76.6kWh twin-battery pack. The only available xDrive40 variant of the SUV can give you a range of up to 425km on a single full charge, according to the WLTP. The battery pack of the BMW iX can be charged from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes by a 150kW fast charger. BMW iX can do 0 -100 in just 6.1 seconds.
The BMW iX is a luxury EV SUV and its price is Rs 1.16 crore (Ex-showroom). The cabin of the BMW iX is made of recycled materials like polyester. The BMW iX rivals in India are – Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi E-Tron, and Jaguar i-pace.
