The New Mercedes-Benz G-Class 400d: Power, Luxury, and Unmatched Performance. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has long been an icon in the automobile world, representing the epitome of luxury, power, and off-road capability. Now, the Brand has launched a new variant of the SUV which is specifically designed for the Indian Market. The G350d variations that were previously available have been replaced by two new editions of the vehicle: the G400d Adventure and the G400d AMG Line. The pricing of the G Class’s two new variations is Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom, India). Both of these SUVs are now open for booking and customers can book the SUV for a nominal price of Rs. 1.5 lakh.
The SUV’s new adventure-specific special edition gets a roof rack, a retractable ladder at the back, 18-inch alloy wheels with five spokes, and a full-size spare tyre installed at the tailgate. It also comes with a total of 25 color options, including four exclusive colors – Sand non-metallic, Vintage Blue non-metallic, Travertine Beige metallic, and South Seas Blue metallic.
A more aggressive-looking G Class is the Mercedes-Benz G Class 400d AMG. The AMG is a sports version of the SUV and it comes with Nappa leather upholstery, a dynamic multifunction steering wheel, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a spare wheel cover made of stainless steel are many other features. Multibeam LED headlights, a Burmester surround sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, and a sliding sunroof are some more features of the Mercedes’ luxurious off-road vehicle.
Both the new variants of the G400d are powered by the same OM656 inline six-cylinder diesel engine, which we have seen in the older variants but now this engine produces 330PS and 700Nm. The G Class can now sprint from zero to 100kmph in 6.4 seconds and has a peak speed of 210kmph.
True to its heritage, the G400d excels off the beaten path, making it the perfect companion for adventurous spirits. Equipped with advanced off-road capabilities, this rugged SUV conquers challenging terrains with ease. Its robust ladder frame, three locking differentials, and low-range gear ratio ensure that no obstacle stands in your way. The G-Class 400d’s adaptive suspension system allows for customizable driving modes, allowing you to adjust the vehicle’s dynamics to suit various terrains and driving conditions.
According to Mercedes-Benz, 41 components weighing 35.9kg in the G400d are composed of high-quality recycled polymers. Inside the SUV you will find eco-friendly materials such as coconut fiber with latex emulsion for backrest cushioning and a wood fiber composite for the substructure of interior door panels.
Based on locations, delivery of the new G Class is planned to begin in October 2023. Mercedes-Benz has said that existing customers would get a head start on booking the G400d. In India, the G Class competes with the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser.
