MG Motors India has launched the facelift MG Hector and Hector Plus. The new MG Hector and Hector Plus have gone through a complete redesign. The exterior and interior of the SUV are completely new and are loaded with many new modern features including ADAS but the mechanicals of the SUV like the engine and gearbox are unchanged. When MG first launched the Hector and Hector Plus in India, the SUV received a great response but now because of the increase in competition and the old generation of the SUV, its sales were down. Now that MG has launched the facelift of the Hector and Hector Plus, its sales are expected to rise again. The only difference between the Hector and Hector Plus is that, that the Hector Plus has a third row of seats while the Hector is only a 5-seater SUV. The design of Facelift Hector and Hector Plus is identical, unlike the previous generation models. The front profile of the Facelift Hector and Hector Plus has a massive diamond pattern grille that carries the MG logo in the middle. It has slim LED DRLs and below them are the headlights housed in the front bumper. The side profile is almost similar to the previous generation, the only difference is the new alloy wheels. The SUV has functional roof rails which upscale the bulky look of the SUV. The rear profile has a thick LED light bar that connects the taillights and a chunky rear bumper. The interior of the facelift Hector and Hector Plus has a new design dashboard along with a new center console. Feature-wise the New MG Hector and Hector Plus gets a new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system which looks really good, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, multicolor ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat. Safety-wise the facelift Hector and Hector Plus has six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS).
The facelift Hector and Hector Plus carry the same previous models’ engine options – a 1.5-liter petrol unit and a 2.0-liter diesel unit. The petrol engine produces 143hp of power and 250Nm of peak torque and comes mated with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The diesel engine produces 170hp of power and 350Nm of torque and it comes mated to a single option 6-speed manual gearbox. The MG Hector comes in 6 trims – Style, Shine, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp pro, and Savvy pro. The MG Hector Plus 6/7 seater comes in 4 trims – Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp pro, and Savvy pro.
The price of the new MG Hector starts at Rs. 14.73 lakh (Ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs. 21.73 lakh (Ex-showroom). The price of the new MG Hector Plus starts at Rs. 20.80 lakh (Ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs. 22.43 lakh (Ex-showroom). The rivals of the MG Hector and Hector Plus are – Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Harrier and Safari, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
